Oscar hopeful: The Artist

The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius, tells the story of a silent film star at the dawn of talking pictures.

French actor Jean Dujardin stars as George Valentin, whose celebrity begins to wane with the rise of speaking stars, such as the enthusiastic Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo).

The Artist has won many of the top prizes throughout the awards season, including three Golden Globes. It is also nominated for 12 Baftas, including best film and best director.
