Channel 4 gets rights for Grand National, Derby and Royal Ascot
Channel 4 has secured a four-year deal to broadcast the Grand National, the Derby and Royal Ascot from 2013.
The deal means Channel 4 will be the exclusive broadcaster of British racing on terrestrial television.
Lee Mottershead, from the Racing Post, told BBC Breakfast that Channel 4 will "push racing", but also that it is a "sad day" for viewers who have followed the BBC's coverage.
The BBC said they put in as "competitive a bid as possible" to maintain the rights.
