Dustin Hoffman: Fame was 'a freak accident'
Dustin Hoffman had said that becoming famous after The Graduate was "a freak accident".
Despite winning two Oscars for his roles in Kramer vs. Kramer and Rain Man he told Kirsty Young on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, that his list of film roles "doesn't sound like enough" and hopes it is "just the first act".
It has taken him 45 years as an actor to make his directorial debut, because he said that with his "demons" he did not feel he was entitled to do anything else beyond acting.
