Former BBC boss Mark Byford: 'Never heard Savile rumours'

Mark Byford, the former deputy director general of the BBC, said throughout his 32 year career at the BBC he never heard rumours about Jimmy Savile's sexual abuse of under age girls.

Mr Byford said he came from Savile's home city of Leeds and met him from time to time - but he had never been told about the claims about his misconduct.
