Director James Strong recalls 1996 IRA Manchester bomb

TV director James Strong was in Manchester when an IRA bomb exploded in 1996 - and has now recreated that blast for a new three-part BBC One drama.

Strong, best known for Broadchurch, has directed From There To Here, which begins on Thursday. The action starts just before the explosion on 15 June 1996.

As well as being the day of the Manchester bomb, it also saw England play Scotland in the Euro '96 football championships at Wembley Stadium.

Strong returned to the spot where he was when the bomb went off and told BBC entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson what happened.
