Police drummer Copeland hopes percussion concerto 'rocks'
Former Police drummer Stewart Copeland's latest work, a percussion and orchestra concerto, is set to be premiered at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Friday 23 May.
Since finding fame with the band, Mr Copeland has established himself as a successful composer for film, television and ballet.
He told the BBC's Rebecca Jones that he felt frustration during his time with The Police, as there was always orchestral music "going through my head".
He added that he hoped his concerto, commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, will "rock the joint".
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 23 May.
