Rome's opera singers stage protest over job cuts
The musicians and chorus of Rome's opera took to the streets of the Italian capital on Monday in a protest that had all the passion and drama usually associated with their onstage productions.
The row over job cuts and the reform of their working practices is an example of the pressures facing the Italian government as it tries to change labour laws and haul the country out of recession.
