Sir Ian McKellen first appeared as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings film in 2001, but now the journey for fans of Middle Earth has finally come to the end of its epic reinvention.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the five Armies is the final film, and as it hits cinema screens, Sir Ian has been reflecting on the impact that the movies have had.
