German author Guenter Grass dies at 87
The distinguished German writer, Guenter Grass, has died, at the age of 87.
His works include The Tin Drum and Cat and Mouse. He won the Nobel prize for literature in 1999.
In recent years, Mr Grass shocked Germany when he revealed he had been a member of the Waffen SS, the elite military wing of the Nazi Party.
