George Underwood damaged David Bowie's eye with a punch

George Underwood talks about damaging his best friend David Bowie's eye when they were 15.

The artist explains how they were both interested in the same girl and Bowie scuppered his chances by telling George that she had cancelled the date. On the advice of a friend, Underwood decided to "give him a black eye."

He maintains that he wasn't responsible for the colour change: "His pupil wouldn't dilate afterwards. You can't change the colour of someone's eyes by punching them."
