Daniel Day-Lewis has always been 'something else'

Oscar-winning actor Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, who starred in Gangs of New York and Last of the Mohicans, has retired.

Actor Gordon Warnecke who starred opposite him in My Beautiful Laundrette told the Today programme that people "always knew" from Sir Daniel's days at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School that he stood out as "something else".

Sir Daniel won three best actor Academy Awards for roles in My Left Foot, There Will Be Blood and Lincoln.
