Yorkshireman Xander Parish on dancing in Russia

Xander Parish was languishing in the lower ranks of the Royal Ballet when he was poached by the Russians and landed a job in the Mariinsky Ballet.

The dancer from Hull who is now returning, seven years on, to dance the lead in Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House, says the different style of training in Russia got him to where he is now.
