Concerns over NHS hospital care for elderly

The Patients Association is calling for every hospital in England and Wales to have an independent matron to champion the rights of patients and tackle what it says is the appalling treatment given to thousands of older people.

It has highlighted cases of people left lying in soiled beds, or going hungry and thirsty.
