Children as young as 12 drinking 19 glasses of wine a week
A new report by the Schools Health Education Unit found that a small but significant number of young people are regularly drinking more than the recommended amount for an adult.
Of the 83,000 school pupils questioned for the report, results revealed that 4% of 12 year olds are regularly consuming 28 units of alcohol every week - the equivalent of drinking 19 glasses of wine per week.
Dr David Regis, the author of the report and Sam McDermott, a former teenage drinker, joined the BBC Breakfast team to discuss the results.
