Baby-tooth sculpture unveiled

Children have been donating their milk teeth to an artist who is creating an unusual new sculpture.

In collaboration with biologist Professor Sara Rankin from Imperial College London, artist Gina Czarnecki has constructed a fairytale palace which will become encrusted with children's teeth over the coming months.

The sculpture, which has gone on display in Liverpool, is designed to stimulate debate on stem cell research and donation of body parts.

Here, Professor Rankin and then Gina Czarnecki explain the thinking behind the idea.
