New centre simulates effect of roadside bombs

A new research centre has opened which aims to improve our understanding of the impact of improvised explosives on British soldiers.

The Royal British Legion Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London also aims to produce new equipment which can better protect soldiers from roadside bombs.

The centre's director Prof Anthony Bull explains the purpose of the blast simulator, and describes how new combat boots could help reduce amputations.
