'Action taken' on NHS hospital staff levels

Seventeen NHS hospitals are among 26 healthcare providers that are failing to operate with safe staffing levels, the Care Quality Commission has said.

A list published in the Daily Telegraph revealed that the health watchdog issued the hospitals with warnings after carrying out inspections as recently as November last year.

But speaking to BBC News, the chief executive of the NHS Confederation, Mike Farrar, said he was confident that the hospitals involved had taken swift action to address the issue.
