Leeds heart unit: 'Surgery has always been safe' says MP
Within hours of a suspension of children's heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary, research authors were saying their data were not ready to be used, a local MP says.
Operations are due to resume a week after it was claimed figures showed higher-than-usual death rates there.
Stuart Andrew, the Conservative MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough, welcomed the news and said he always felt surgery had been safe in Leeds,
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said work would be done to give "sufficient assurance" the unit was safe to reopen.
