Bid to rebuild faith in Furness General Hospital

It was the maternity unit at the centre of an NHS scandal. There were claims of fatally poor care and mismanagement at Furness General Hospital in Cumbria.

Joshua Titcombe was one of 14 babies who died over a nine year period. His death led to a police investigation. Two mothers also died whilst under the care of the hospital.

In all, Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, has been the subject of legal action from 37 families.

Dominic Hughes went to Furness General to see how a new management team are trying to improve care and rebuild faith in the hospital.
