C-section decision 'totally unreasonable' says lawyer
The decision to force a woman to undergo a Caesarean section and then give her baby up for adoption was "totally unreasonable," her lawyer has claimed.
The baby was taken from an unnamed Italian woman, who suffers from bipolar disorder, and placed in the care of Essex County Council social services.
Her lawyer, Stefano Oliva told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "This decision is absolutely unreasonable... she has a normal life so there is really no reason why someone can force her to have a baby in one way or another."
Essex County Council said it had "exhausted all other options", such as liaising with the mother's extended family, before pursuing an adoption.
