Breast implant register 'must be compulsory'
A register of all breast implant operations is to be introduced in England in the wake of the PIP scare, the Department of Health has announced.
But health ministers in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are yet to decide if they are to join the register.
There will also be a clampdown on cosmetic surgery advertising and new qualifications introduced for surgeons who carry out cosmetic procedures.
Speaking to the BBC, Dr Rajiv Grover from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, said that he supported the idea of a register but that it "must be compulsory" in order to protect patients.
