Sharp rise in A&E locum doctor spend

Spending on locum doctors to plug the gaps in A&E units in England has risen by 60% in three years, figures show.

Data obtained by Labour under the Freedom of Information Act showed spending on temporary staff in casualty units has risen by 60% to more than £80m a year.
