Dame Sally Davies: Smoking 'rots you from the inside'

A new anti-smoking campaign highlights the harm done to the body by smoking which many people do not know about, the chief medical officer for England has said.

Dame Sally Davies said that while most people know that smoking increases the risk of cancer, heart disease and strokes, many do not realise that it causes other problems like osteoporosis and reduced fertility levels.

The campaign, launched by Public Health England (PHE), warns that cigarettes "rot" the body from within and can damage the bones, muscles, brain, teeth and eyes.
