How one area is keeping people out of care homes

Moving into a care home is seen as the last resort. For the past few years there has been a big push on keeping people out of care homes.

In Leeds, the city council has being making good progress by investing in new technology that can keep people safe and well in their own homes.

It means carers do not have to call in as often and reduced the number of accidents people have.

Leeds says this is essential if society is going to be able to cope with the ageing population.

Health correspondent Nick Triggle went to see how the system works.
