NHS criticism expected in baby deaths inquiry report

A report detailing the failures at a maternity unit where a number of newborn babies and mothers died is expected to be released today.

The investigation into Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust focused on the care given at Furness General Hospital in Cumbria between 2004 and 2013.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt ordered the inquiry following several damning reports and when it emerged a number of families had also taken legal action over the quality of care provided.

Dominic Hughes reports.
