Welcome to the designer asylum

Artist James Leadbitter has created his idea of the ideal asylum - a optimistic vision of what he calls a "safe place to go mad".

The project, called Madlove, A Designer Asylum, started with a series of workshops that aimed to gather ideas from people with personal and professional experience of mental healthcare.

He used these ideas to create the asylum, which is open to visitors at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool until 17 May, 2015.

James Leadbitter showed BBC News around his utopian asylum, and explained why he hopes the National Health Service might borrow some of his ideas.
