Cancer Research UK: 'Be sensible in the sun'

A boom in cheap package holidays in the 1960s is partly behind the "worrying rise" in skin cancers in pensioners, according to Cancer Research UK.

The charity said that although all ages were at risk, many older people would not have been aware of how to protect themselves four decades ago.

Professor Richard Marais, from Cancer Research UK, said that people should be sensible in the sun and mindful of the permanent damage done when skin is burnt.
