Why are junior doctors striking?

Junior doctors in England have cancelled plans to strike in September because of fears over the impact on patient safety.

But they are still due to strike for five days in October, November and December.

The row has been going on for at least two years, since Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt first proposed a new contract.
