King's Fund: 'Community investment' before hospital closures

The NHS and local councils in England have set out what they plan to do to improve health and care in their local area in Sustainability and Transformation plans or STPs. Two thirds of the 44 plans propose closing a hospital or moving treatment to a different site.

The health think tank the King's Fund says some of the reforms are essential but Chris Ham, their chief executive, also warned on the Today programme that cuts wont be credible unless there's more investment in community health services.
