US Civil War descendants seek memorial for general
Johnnie Mitchell is a direct descendant of slaves from South Carolina, while Priscilla Mitchel's great great great grandfather was the Union Army general who freed them, along with some 1,500 other slaves.
Now they are campaigning to establish a memorial to celebrate both that action and the town which resulted from it - Mitchelville, the first community in the US which was run by former slaves.
