Archiving US presidential campaigns on the web

US groups are collecting and cataloguing each item linked to past and present presidential campaigns in an effort to save them for the future.

Several US groups have begun collecting and digitising each sign, picture and video linked to past and present US presidential campaigns in the hopes of preserving them future generations.

In New York City, the Museum of the Moving Image has digitised and archived each television campaign advertisement dating back to 1956.

Two political curators of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History have travelled to each major Republican and Democratic rally and convention since the late 1980s, picking up materials linked to the presidential campaigns.
