Could starfish inspire new cure for asthma?

Scientists say the starfish could hold the key to finding new treatments for inflammatory conditions such as asthma, hay fever and arthritis.

The spiny starfish (Marthasterias glacialis) produces a slimy goo as a defence mechanism, which researchers think could help people with the conditions.

BBC science reporter Rebecca Morelle visited the Scottish Association for Marine Science in Oban, Scotland, to find out more from ecologist Dr David Hughes.
