Shuttle delivers AMS particle experiment to space station
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), the most complex space physics experiment ever built, is set to be delivered to the International Space Station by the space shuttle Endeavour.
AMS will undertake a comprehensive survey of cosmic rays - the storm of high-energy particles that are accelerated in our direction from exploded stars, black holes and other exotic corners of the cosmos.
This computer animation shows how the spectrometer will be transferred from Endeavour's cargo bay to the ISS.
