1998: First shuttle mission to International Space Station

Ths space shuttle Endeavour launched on December 4 1998 on a mission crucial to the construction of the International Space Station.

The take-off from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida, went smoothly. The shuttle carried a spacecraft called Unity to the Russian Zarya module.
