High speed cameras show 'fighter jet' fruit flies
High speed cameras have revealed that fruit flies make split-second manoeuvres, in a similar way to fighter jets, to escape from predators.
The study, which was published in the journal Science, may help to explain why other species of fly are hard to swat.
Professor Michael Dickenson explains why and how the flies were filmed.
