Nasa's Mars rover snares organics

Nasa's Curiosity rover has finally detected methane in Mars' atmosphere - a gas that could hint at past or present life on the planet.

It has also made the first definitive detection of organics in surface materials at the Red Planet.

Rover project scientist John Grotzinger described the significance of the discoveries to our correspondent Jonathan Amos.
