Solar mission needs titanium shield
Europe is building a satellite to study the Sun that will venture closer to the solar inferno than any previous venture.
Solar Orbiter will go to within 43 million km of the Sun, and will need a titanium shield to cope with temperatures up to 600C.
European Space Agency project manager Philippe Kletzkine discussed the mission with our science correspondent Jonathan Amos.
