Debris covered glaciers' unique behaviour

Scientists have been describing the processes that drive "ice sails" - a rare and somewhat esoteric feature of debris covered glaciers in the Karakoram mountain region of Pakistan.

These "dirty" glaciers look very different from the pristine white ice flows seen in places such as Antarctica.

They also behave differently. Lindsey Nicholson from Innsbruck University spoke with our science correspondent Jonathan Amos.
