Learning to walk with robotic legs
Eight paraplegic patients in Brazil - including the one in this video - have recovered partial sensation and movement after an intensive one-year training program.
The regime was intended to teach the subjects to walk inside a robotic exoskeleton, and included learning to control the legs of a virtual avatar using brainwaves, recorded by a skull cap.
This video shows one of the subjects controlling the exoskeleton, using the same skull cap system, while suspended in a harness.
The findings are published in the open access journal Scientific Reports.
