Sonic The Hedgehog honoured at Golden Joystick awards

Sonic The Hedgehog has won the outstanding contribution gong at the Golden Joystick video game awards.

The video game character is celebrating his 20th birthday since being unveiled by Sega.

Spinning into life in 1991, Sega's spiky blue mascot took the gaming world by storm.

David Corless, brand director for Sonic, spoke to BBC News about the character's origins and evolution and the role pop superstar Michael Jackson played in his creation.
