Samsung's new smart watch on display

One of the intrinsic problems with smartwatches is interacting effectively with them: a two-inch screen is difficult to type on and swiping and gesturing through multiple menus can be frustrating.

Voice recognition technology is being positioned as one solution to the problem. To that end, Samsung has teamed up with established voice technology specialists Nuance to enhance the capabilities of voice input on its smartwatches.

The BBC's North America Technology Correspondent Richard Taylor was given a demonstration on Samsung's just-released Gear S watch, at its developer conference in San Francisco.
