'Lift the sackings' call to avoid fire strike
The Fire Brigades' Union has pledged not to strike ''if the threat of sackings if lifted,'' as its members were criticised by government ministers for calling a stoppage in London on Bonfire Night.
The union has said the dispute centres on plans to scrap current rotas and force staff to sign new contracts or face dismissal.
Managers at London Fire Service have offered to meet union leaders every day to resolve the dispute.
