Nobby Stiles' 1966 World Cup medal sells for £160,000

The 1966 World Cup winners medal, belonging to England midfielder Nobby Stiles, has sold at auction in Edinburgh for £160,000.

The medal was among more than 40 items of sporting memorabilia being sold by one of football's best loved players.

The player's European Cup winners medal also went under the hammer, fetching more than £49,000.

Mr Stiles said he wanted his family to benefit from the sale. Both items were bought by the player's former club Manchester United.

Glenn Campbell reports.
