Sir John Sawers denies MI6 role in 'abhorrent' torture

The head of MI6, Sir John Sawers, has described torture as "illegal" and "abhorrent" and said his officers had had "nothing whatsoever" to do with torture.

In the first public speech from a serving head of MI6 in 100 years, he also identified threats from international terrorism, nuclear proliferation and cyber terrorism as the biggest security risks.
