Prisoners to be given right to vote
Convicted prisoners in the UK could be given the right to vote after the European Court of Human Rights ruled the present ban unlawful.
Those on remand awaiting trial, fine defaulters and people jailed for contempt of court are already permitted to vote, but the right is curtailed for some 70,000 prisoners.
