Travel chaos continues in Scotland

For a second night, hundreds of cars remain stranded on major roads across central Scotland as the country remains in the grip of the worst wintry conditions for decades. Parts of the M8 - between Glasgow and Edinburgh remains shut as gritters struggle to remove thick ice from the motorway.

Edinburgh City Council says it has asked the Army to help clear the streets of snow and ice.
