Clashes as MPs approve student tuition fees rise

The coalition government has won a vote to raise tuition fees in England to £9,000 per year, amid scenes of violent protest on the streets of London.

Three ministerial aides resigned over the issue but the motion was still passed by a majority of 21 votes.
