Death crash driver will not be deported

A failed asylum seeker who ran over and fatally injured a young girl while banned from driving is to be allowed to live in the UK permanently.

Aso Mohammed Ibrahim, an Iraqi Kurd, had argued that his human rights would be harmed if he was sent back to Iraq.

He had initially fled after knocking down 12-year-old Amy Houston in Blackburn in 2003 and was jailed for four months.

The BBC's Lorna Gordon reports.
