Transport Secretary on new high-speed rail route
The preferred route for a high-speed rail line between London and Birmingham will be revealed later.
Trains on the HS2 London to Birmingham link would travel at more than 200mph, cutting journey times between the cities by about 30 minutes.
The Transport Secretary Philip Hammond said he understood the concerns of those people who would be affected but on balance it was the right thing to do for the economy and Britain's railway network.
