Eric Pickles council pay vote 'not unreasonable'
The Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, wants to change the way councils in England set the pay of senior officials.
It would mean local authorities in England planning to pay employees more than £100,000 will have to seek the approval of councillors in a vote.
Mr Pickles says the current system which allows councils to pay senior employees huge salaries just doesn't work.
